This disc has all of the essential Otis Spann classics. After seeing Been A Long, Long Time, I had to have a good Otis Spann CD. For older fans Live Is Life (With Muddy Waters And His Band) (1964-1968) will put a massive smile accross your face. If I may, I suggest “Been A Long, Long Time”. That one song is amazing!
Music of Look Under My Bed is gentle, never overbearing. A unique and uplifting song. Sarah Street is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day. This song is dynamic and dramatic. From the moment you listen to Kansas City you’re hooked. Tin Pan Alley is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. 5 Long Years is one of the best records ever. In this song fans will recognize the unique vocals of Otis Spann. I Wanna Go Home is flawed, nonetheless pretty good song. Can’t Lose Waht You Ain’t Never Had is nothing short of a modern masterpiece. I believe High Rising is one of the most marvelous, heartfelt songs ever written. Everything’s Gonna Be Alright is simply amazing. One of the more genuine-sounding songs is What’s On Your Worried Mind. Mean Old Train is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. My Baby Left Me is the gorgeous blend of moody yet optimistic tunes.
