For older fans Master Serie will put a massive smile accross your face. After seeing Marche l’Ombre, I had to have a good Renaud CD. Renaud’s debut, ‘Master Serie’, does not fit easily into one genre. Master Serie is one of the best cd’s i have heard through the whole thing.
It’s a great pleasure to listen to Ou C’Est Que J’Al Mis Mon Flin from the beginning to the end. It Is Not Because You Are is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. Other tracks are good but your best bet is to stick with Oscar. Still going through Master Serie and coming to appreciate Retour de Gerard Lambert more and more with every listen. What sets C’Est Mon Dernier Bal apart is Renaud’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. Dans Mon H.L.M. is a song to enjoy for years to come. Manu is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. One listen to the sheer beauty of Ma Gonzesse was all I needed. Renaud is hitting on all cylinders in Chanson de Pierrot. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Renaud. Societe Tu M’Auras Pas is the albums lead single as well as biggest hit. I find myself hearing bits of Laisse-Beton here and there throughout my waking hours. The sound of Je Suis une Bande de Jeunes is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. Amoureux de Paname is one of the best records ever.
