Lead single “The Freedom Come-All-Ye” and “Sail On” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. IF YOU LIKE ALL Dick Gaughan’S SONG GO FOR IT! Sail On carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. Sail On is one of Dick Gaughan best albums
This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Sail On. Other tracks are good but your best bet is to stick with Geronimo’s Cadillac. 1952 Vincent Black Lightning which is my favorite is a truly Dick Gaughan sounding song. Music of No Gods & Precious Few Heroes is gentle, never overbearing. The 51St (Highland) Division’s Farewell To Sicily is astounding. You can find feelings on this piece of art. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. Waist Deep In The Big Muddy is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. Music in Son Of Man is astounding as in all tracks of Sail On. Land Of The North Wind is the most memorable and perfect.
