This compilation contains all of the biggest hits by Hole. While no new Hole album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1997 tour in Asia. This disc has all of the essential Hole classics. One of Hole’s best albums yet.
The sound in Phonebill Song is really warm and Hole’s signature voice is still very much present. Retard Girl is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through My Body, The Hand Grenade. Nice and different song. Hole offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Beautiful Son is my favorite song on My Body, The Hand Grenade. 20 Years In The Dakota is quite refreshing and sets the tone for what is going on in My Body, The Hand Grenade. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on My Body, The Hand Grenade. Old Age (Live Through This Outtake) - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. Softer, Softest (From MTV’s Unplugged) which is my favorite is a truly Hole sounding song. The beautiful sound of this track makes you want to close your eyes and sway away with the music. Season Of The Witch (From MTV’s Unplugged) is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. Drown Soda (Live) is marvelous song though, very addictive. Lyrics of Asking For It (Live) are precise and evocative.
