On Platinum album, Vangelis have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. I am not a real Classical: Neo-Classical music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Platinum’ really is amazing. ‘Platinum’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. Vangelis is one of my favourite bands of all time.
Alpha is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through Platinum. Spiral had me crying as I was able to relate so well. Charming song, great melody. After about the third Chung Kuo listen through, I began to believe this song is Vangelis’s essence. Irlande - To me, this is the best song on the Platinum. In Titles Vangelis is at his best. Theme From Antarctica is one of the coolest songs Vangelis has ever recorded. Metallic Rain is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track Vangelis ever produced. Intergalactic Radio Station one of the best in my collection. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. This track is a great song that still never gets old.
