Since Orion last CD (Futursic Poetry) on Capitol Hill Music back in 1997, I have felt a massive void in my life. On the U.S. charts, superstar Orion’s career stalled before it left the starting gate. While no new Orion album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1997 tour in South America. It is very deep stuff.
The Source - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Orion. In Funkadelic it becomes nowhere more obvious that Orion has yet to define own style. Caracol is pretty funky and mellow. Akeru - Well, here we get a bit more meaning. Orion has created something that grabs you by the heart and gets you moving. Highway is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot.
