For older fans Year Zero will put a massive smile accross your face. On the Spain charts, superstar Paul Lawler’s career stalled before it left the starting gate. Lead single “Ice Station” and “The Unbelievers” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. It is very exciting!
Music in The Unbelievers is perfect as in all tracks of Year Zero. Stepford Lives is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through Year Zero. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on Year Zero is Capital Freeze. Radio Calvary as a highlight of Year Zero contains a ton of gorgeous melodies. Musically Dead Roads is superior to other tracks in Year Zero. The Messenger is a exquisite, simple song by Paul Lawler at the top of his game. Year Zero is another strong production from Paul Lawler. You have to get essence of the Athens By Night’s power, to truly understand this masterpiece. This is one of those songs that musicians strive to write and create. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. So much energy, so exciting a sound.
