The Wake of Magellan CD - one of the best in Metal: Heavy. This disc has all of the essential Savatage classics. Since Savatage last CD (The Wake of Magellan) on Chocolate Fireguard Records back in 1997, I have felt a massive void in my life. If you want to hear real Metal: Heavy, get this record now!
Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Welcome is my favorite song on The Wake of Magellan. Turns To Me - another great track from the The Wake of Magellan album. Morning Sun one of the best in my collection. Another Way is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track. Savatage has astounded me with this amazing track. Paragons Of Innocence - I like this one. Complaint In The System (Veronica Guerin) is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. Savatage offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. No Savatage song has come close to capturing my attention as The Wake Of Magellan did. Anymore defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. The Storm is the albums biggest surprise. The Hourglass is a bit different from Savatage stereotypical stuff.
