It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Skyclad energies, virtually a rebirth. Skyclad was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Skyclad and Oui Avant-Garde A Chance together. It’s natural for Skyclad to take a stab at ‘If I Die Laughing, It’ll Be An Act Of God’ considering her long-professed love for 911. Oui Avant-Garde A Chance is what good Folk: Folk-Rock should be.
Great Blow For A Day Job is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in Oui Avant-Garde A Chance. Opening track Postcard From Planet Earth shows the best of Skyclad. Jumping My Shadow is nothing short of a modern masterpiece. A unique and uplifting song. History Lessens (The Final Examination) is the album’s biggest hit, I think. This track is just a stunning masterpiece. Come On Eileen (Dexy’s Midnight Runners) - Okay, I just talked about depth. Master Race (New Model Army) the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. First time I heard Bombed Out (Instru-Mental) was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing.I love the melodic melody of Penny Dreadful (Full Shilling Mix) and to this day it makes me feel good.
