Swing carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. Lead single “Stomp Of King Porter” and “Sing A Study In Brown” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. On the Malta charts, superstar The Manhattan Transfer’s career stalled before it left the starting gate. Swing is my first The Manhattan Transfer Album and i must say i am blown away.
I came to like Sing A Study In Brown. Sing Moten’s Swing hits the heart. A-Tisket, A-Tasket is one of the more up-tempo songs on Swing. I Know Why (And So Do You) - I just love it. Sing You Sinners - A catchy, upbeat tune. This track makes my mind whirl and vibrate with flowing energy. Down South Camp Meeting is simple, dignified and effective, The Manhattan Transfer refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Only one song from Swing named Topsy really got me. Clouds is a song to enjoy for years to come. Awesome song is really all that you can say about it. Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer. Choo Choo Ch’Boogie is perfect.
