It’s natural for Sixteen Horsepower to take a stab at ‘Brimstone Rock’ considering her long-professed love for K One. Low Estate really suprise for me from Sixteen Horsepower. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Sixteen Horsepower on ‘Brimstone Rock’. Low Estate is the best essence of Sixteen Horsepower.
My Narrow Mind is the funkiest number on the album. This is one of those songs that musicians strive to write and create. For Heaven’s Sake (4:54) Not one of my favorites, but for a lot of people this is one of their best songs. Sac Of Religion is really a nice song to relax and listen too. What sets The Denver Grab apart is Sixteen Horsepower’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. Coal Black Horses is the most memorable and perfect. Pure Clob Road is nothing but pure genius. Phyllis Ruth is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track. Black Lung is simple, dignified and effective, Sixteen Horsepower refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Dead Run - Well, here we get a bit more meaning. Golden Rope great lyrics, dark, deep, angry and cool.Hang My Teeth On Your Door is a very catchy tune.
