This is one of greatest albums of Brownside. Since Brownside last CD (Eastside Drama) on Apegenine recordings back in 1997, I have felt a massive void in my life. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Brownside on ‘Payback’. Eastside Drama touched my soul like nothing else.
Another Crazy Day as a highlight of Eastside Drama contains a ton of gorgeous melodies. KBRN is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined. So Ruff - I like this one. Charming song, great melody. Brownside must have run out of lyrics on the next track Life on the Streets. Brownside allows each song to breathe and flourish. A unique and uplifting song. This track is a fabulous selection of easy listening, suitable for any age, taste or occasion. Look Through My Eyes - My least favorite song on this album. Hookin’ Up With Eazy E gets you up and jumping. Vatos ‘N the Varrio is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. Don’t judge Creepin’ on the first listening. Brownside sings his heart out in People vs. Toker. From the moment you listen to Do or Die you’re hooked. I Never Thought - Okay, I just talked about depth. The sound in Rest in Peace is really warm and Brownside’s signature voice is still very much present.
