Since completing 1997’s ‘Vyhozu odinia na dorogu’, O.Pogudin fulfilled their contract with Capricorn Records and where under no obligation to release another album. O.Pogudin’s debut, ‘Lermontov’, does not fit easily into one genre. You need to listen Lermontov. It’s really cool. Check it every song is worth the money for the Lermontov CD!
In Parus full palet of sound is used by O.Pogudin to accentuate the presentation. Slyshu li golos tvoi as a highlight of Lermontov contains a ton of amazing melodies. The sound of Kazachia kolybelnaia pesna is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. Some of the arrangements found on Lermontov are surprisingly edgy. U vrat obiteli sviatoi is a very catchy tune. Net ne teba tak pylko ia lublu is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track. Music of Utes is gentle, never overbearing. Gornye vershiny make listening to O.Pogudin like being in some sort of time warp. Some call Portret from Lermontov as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. This song could easily nestle itself onto the world top playlists. Molitva (ia mater bozia…) is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. Molitva (V minutu zizni trudnu…) (2:12) - Oh, this is one of my favorites! Angel is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track O.Pogudin ever produced.
