I Like It When You Die is an amazing album, racked with beauty.Since Anal Cunt last CD (I Like It When You Die) on SixSteps records back in 1997, I have felt a massive void in my life. This disc has all of the essential Anal Cunt classics. I Like It When You Die is the best essence of Anal Cunt.
Kyle From Incantation Has A Moustache sets the tone for the entire album. You (Fill In The Blank) is a perfect song and it grows on you. In this song fans will recognize the unique vocals of Anal Cunt. I listened to the opening track Your Favorite Band Is Supertramp and liked it a lot. Technology’s Gay gets you up and jumping. When listening to Locking Drop Dead In McDonald’s, it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. You Went To See Dishwalla And Everclear (You’re Gay) is a striking and quite long song. Hootie And The Blowfish is probably the highlight of the album. I can’t stop playing Ha Ha, Your Wife Left You. It’s such an underrated song. Anal Cunt has created something that grabs you by the heart and gets you moving. So much energy, so exciting a sound.Windchimes Are Gay is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. You’re In A Coma is just a great song and one well worth taking the time to give it a good listen. Your Best Friend Is You is amazing song though, very addictive. This song could easily nestle itself onto the world top playlists. Get I Like It When You Die and turn on You’re Old (Fuck You) if you are going to sip your wine late at night. You Are An Orphan stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. Your Kid Is Deformed is a strong cut, one of many. 311 Sucks is the more seemingly obscure song on I Like It When You Die that bear up best to repeated listening. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on I Like It When You Die is Richard Butler. Anal Cunt has astounded me with this amazing track. Being A Cobbler Is Dumb is nothing short of a modern masterpiece. Listening to You Sell Cologne you can hear that Anal Cunt has still amazing chemistry with band members. Song Because You’re Old is actually a funny song. After few listenings I started to like You Play On A Softball Team more and more. You Drive An IROC is the album’s biggest hit, I think. You have to get essence of the You Have Goals’s power, to truly understand this masterpiece. Simple and heartfelt closing track Your Cousin Is George Lynch closes I Like It When You Die on a high note. You Look Adopted is one of the best records ever. You’re Gay is new, fresh, and hypnotizing. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Anal Cunt. I love the melodic melody of Just The Two Of Us and to this day it makes me feel good. You Are A Food Critic - I like this one. You Live In Allston is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined. Branscombe Richmond is the albums biggest surprise. I was truly moved when I heard Rich Goyette Is Gay. Pottery’s Gay I just LOVE this mix! This track is a great song that still never gets old. Hungry Hungry Hippos defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. When I listen to We Just Disagree in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. You’ve Got Cancer - A nice song. One listen to the sheer beauty of You Can’t Shut Up was all I needed. In You’re A Cop the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. From the moment you listen to Recycling Is Gay you’re hooked. You Got Date Raped one of the most beautiful songs i’ve ever heard. This track is clearly meant to showcase Anal Cunt’s vocal abilities. The song You Keep A Diary ending is my favorite… so catchy! In You’ve Got No Friends you won’t find any flashy solos. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. Jack Kevorkian Is Cool is the most memorable and gorgeous.
