Now signed to Ani DiFranco’s Aquarius Records (record label), the title track from second album “Living In Clip [CD 1]” leads Ani DiFranco’s back-to-school campaign. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Ani DiFranco on ‘Whatever’. While no new Ani DiFranco album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1997 tour in Africa. Living In Clip [CD 1] is one of the best cd’s i have heard through the whole thing.
Wherever is really a nice song to relax and listen too. What sets Gravel apart is Ani DiFranco’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. Willing To Fight is such a exquisite and optimistic song that things can get just better. In Shy you won’t find any flashy solos. One of the more genuine-sounding songs is Joyful Girl. Hide And Seek is the albums lead single as well as biggest hit. Napoleon is one of the coolest songs Ani DiFranco has ever recorded. I’m No Heroine - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. Amazing Grace is one of these floating songs. Excellent vocals and musical performances. Tiptoe is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. Sorry I Am is another strong production from Ani DiFranco. The Diner / The Slant (8:23) - Oh, this is one of my favorites! As always, Ani DiFranco’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. I like the idea behind Out Of Range.
