This -song debut EP shows the promise that Blues - Various Artists has. Blues - Various Artists is work hard for Lightnin. Hopkins - Essential Texas Blues (Disk 2 of 2). Great album Lightnin. Hopkins - Essential Texas Blues (Disk 2 of 2) - just must listen it! Such great and happy songs.
Only one song from Lightnin. Hopkins - Essential Texas Blues (Disk 2 of 2) named Change It (Doyle Bramhall) really got me. How Do You Spell Love? (Fabulous Thunderbirds) is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. I Feel So Good (Ivory Joe Hunter) (2:40) - Oh, this is one of my favorites! If You Want To See the Blues (Joe “Guitar” Hughes) is a bit different from Blues - Various Artists stereotypical stuff. It’s My Life, Baby (Johnny Winter) is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. Going Back To the Country (Juke Boy Bonner) is the funkiest number on the album. Excellent vocals and musical performances. Reconsider Baby (Lowell Fulson) is another strong production from Blues - Various Artists. Album opener Ella Speed (Mance Lipscomb) is a bright, upbeat ditty. I can’t stop humming along Hard Times In the Land of Plenty (Omar and the Howlers). Texas Hop (Pee Wee Crayton) is the kind of record that makes you remember why music can be so addictive. It’s Been a Mistake (Tutu Jones) (3:46) - awsome. Why Do Things Happen To Me? (W. C. Clarke) is the most memorable and excellent. Ball n’ Chain (Willie Mae Thornton) - a classic song.
