Since completing 1997’s ‘Go On (Angela Strehli)’, Blues - Various Artists fulfilled their contract with ATIC Records and where under no obligation to release another album. I think this is best Blues album. It has been eight years Blues - Various Artists’ last studio CD, “Tutu Jones - Essential Texas Blues (Disk 2 of 2)” which won NRJ Music Awards and was nominated for album of the year. Tutu Jones - Essential Texas Blues (Disk 2 of 2) is one of Blues - Various Artists best albums
Change It (Doyle Bramhall) is probably the highlight of the album. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. This track is clearly meant to showcase Blues - Various Artists’s vocal abilities. I Feel So Good (Ivory Joe Hunter) I just LOVE this mix! If You Want To See the Blues (Joe “Guitar” Hughes) gives good insight into the truths. It’s My Life, Baby (Johnny Winter) actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Blues - Various Artists’s face. Going Back To the Country (Juke Boy Bonner) - a classic song. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Tom Moore Blues (Lightnin’ Hopkins) because the melody in the chorus is so good. Reconsider Baby (Lowell Fulson) is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart. Ella Speed (Mance Lipscomb) is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo. Hard Times In the Land of Plenty (Omar and the Howlers) is a strong cut, one of many. Texas Hop (Pee Wee Crayton) is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. This track is just a stunning masterpiece. I believe Why Do Things Happen To Me? (W. C. Clarke) is one of the most marvelous, heartfelt songs ever written. Ball n’ Chain (Willie Mae Thornton) is the kind of record that makes you remember why music can be so addictive.
