This is one of greatest albums of Masters At Work. It has been nine years Masters At Work’ last studio CD, “Nuyorican Sou” which won MTV Music Awards and was nominated for album of the year. It’s natural for Masters At Work to take a stab at ‘Nuyorican Soul Intro’ considering her long-professed love for 112. Nuyorican Sou is one of the best cd’s i have heard through the whole thing.
I Am The Black Gold Of The Sun (Lead Vocals By Jocelyn Brown) is astounding song though, very addictive. This song stands out greatly from the others. Nice and different song. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Masters At Work. Nautilus (Mawtilus) is a great opener for Nuyorican Sou. This is one hell of a track. Habriendo El Dominante is a strong cut, one of many. Roy’s Scat (Vibes And Scat Vocals By Roy Ayers) is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. Sweet Tears (Lead Vocal And Vibes By Roy Ayers) is pretty funky and mellow. Runaway (Lead Vocals By India) - I just love it. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on Nuyorican Sou is Shoshana. Jazzy Jeff’s Theme is a cool song and it grows on you. You Can Do It (Baby) (Lead Vocals And Guitar By George Benson) on Nuyorican Sou is solid and easy to listen to.
