After debuting at No. 1 last week, Shastro’s album Malimba Moon falls to No. 2 with 747,000, a sales slide of 52%. Since completing 1997’s ‘Malimba Moon’, Shastro fulfilled their contract with Deary Me Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Malimba Moon isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. Malimba Moon is not something you should pass up.
Earth Song had me crying as I was able to relate so well. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Fruit Market is my favorite song on Malimba Moon. Awakening is the albums biggest surprise. I can’t stop playing Jungle Dance. Shastro sings Banana Leaves in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. This track makes my mind whirl and vibrate with flowing energy. Hemma In The Stars defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. In this song fans will recognize the unique vocals of Shastro.
