Lead single “Desert Sun” and “Napali” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Now signed to Willie and Lobo’s All Saints Records, the title track from second album “Caliente” leads Willie and Lobo’s back-to-school campaign. Since Willie and Lobo last CD (Caliente) on All Saints Records back in 1997, I have felt a massive void in my life. Caliente - another great offering from Willie and Lobo.
What sets Napali apart is Willie and Lobo’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. One of the more genuine-sounding songs is Arena Caliente. El Anclote is one of the more up-tempo songs on Caliente. Puerto Vallarta Squeeze is another favourite of mine. Willie and Lobo sings his heart out in Pukalani. Vocals of Willie and Lobo in Sweet Alia really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm. Moorish Reunion catches attention immediately, This is probably my favorite song on the album. Noche De Tangier is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo. It took me a little time but I ended up loving Lunada.
