It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Basil Poledouris energies, virtually a rebirth. This is the first studio album from Basil Poledouris since bad diagnosis in 1997. On the France charts, superstar Basil Poledouris’s career stalled before it left the starting gate. Lots of variety between tracks. My favorite is Brain Bug
Opening track Brain Bug shows the best of Basil Poledouris. Bug City - Okay, I just talked about depth. Only one song from Starship Troopers - Complete Score - CD2 named Bugs!!-ALTERNATE really got me. Destruction of Roger Young is probably the highlight of the album. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. Friends Vow-EXTENDED is a cool, simple song by Basil Poledouris at the top of his game. Blew our minds when we first heard Have Not Been To Paradise - Zoe Poledouris. Intense - Alisha’s Attic is another strong production from Basil Poledouris. Into It - Zoe Poledouris is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. Radio Shack-UNUSED can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what Basil Poledouris is all about. Return to Base-EXTENDED is simple, dignified and effective, Basil Poledouris refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. If you are a Basil Poledouris fan, you will love Rico’s Roughnecks. Strafing Run-UNUSED is a sure sign of something most of us are experiencing, maturity. They Will Win one of the most beautiful songs i’ve ever heard. Whiskey Outpost Rescue-ALTERNATE is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done.
