There is no doubt that Blues - Various Artists has talent and Kim Wilson - Essential Texas Blues (Disk 1 of 2) is great.This album has some very good songs like Frosty (Albert Collins) and Changing Neighborhoods (Anson Funderburg and the Rockets (featuring Sam Myers)). For older fans Kim Wilson - Essential Texas Blues (Disk 1 of 2) will put a massive smile accross your face. I greatly enjoyed this CD.
This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. Although Kidney Stew Blues (Eddie Vinson) is very melodic it is far from sad. Love Her With a Feeling (Freddie King) the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. There Is Something On Your Mind (Grady Gaines) gives good insight into the truths. Chicken Stuff (Hop Wilson) without a doubt is the standout song of Kim Wilson - Essential Texas Blues (Disk 1 of 2). Everybody Wants a Piece of Me (Johnny Copeland) is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. I can’t stop playing Baby Please Don’t Lie To Me (Kim Wilson). Nasty Ways (Long John Hunter) is simple, dignified and effective, Blues - Various Artists refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Stop These Teardrops (Lou Ann Barton) can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what Blues - Various Artists is all about. The Cows (Robert Shaw) hits the heart. Little School Girl (Smokey Hogg) is, without a doubt, my favorite song, ever. No Blues - Various Artists song has come close to capturing my attention as Comin’ Home Today (Smokin’ Joe Kubek) did. I Want a Little Girl (T-Bone Walker) is cool work of Blues - Various Artists. It’s a great pleasure to listen to Why Don’t You Eat Where You Slept Last Night? (Zuzu Bollin) from the beginning to the end.
