It’s natural for Cesaria Evora to take a stab at ‘Tchintchirote’ considering her long-professed love for Big Fun. This disc has all of the essential Cesaria Evora classics. This is the first studio album from Cesaria Evora since bad diagnosis in 1997. Cesaria Evora is one of my favourite bands of all time.
It’s a great pleasure to listen to Sabine Larga’m from the beginning to the end. Partida is one of the more up-tempo songs on Cabo Verde. Strong, powerful vocals of Cesaria Evora in Sangue de Beirona are very impressive. Apocalipse is so unique, as each one of the songs is. In Mar e Morada Di Sodade full palet of sound is used by Cesaria Evora to accentuate the presentation. In Bo e di meu Cretcheu the music gets its power. In this song fans will recognize the unique vocals of Cesaria Evora. Quem bo e is the album’s biggest hit, I think. Regresso is quite refreshing and sets the tone for what is going on in Cabo Verde. I think Zebra is the best song Cesaria Evora has ever done. Mae Velha which is my favorite is a truly Cesaria Evora sounding song. Pe di boi is the funkiest number on the album. Ess pais is exquisite work of Cesaria Evora.
