This is the first studio album from G.E.N.E. since bad diagnosis in 1997. thirteen years ago, G.E.N.E. briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Life is a Melody”. Since completing 1997’s ‘Good Morning Vibration’, G.E.N.E. fulfilled their contract with Definitive Jux and where under no obligation to release another album. If I may, I suggest “Good Morning Vibration”. That one song is amazing!
Life is a Melody is a medium tempo tune. Blooming Kiss is a bit different from G.E.N.E. stereotypical stuff. Within the first few notes of Melancholy of Sunset it’s perfectly clear that G.E.N.E. is living this song. Taste of Dawn had me crying as I was able to relate so well. Beauty of Swamp - A catchy, upbeat tune. Charming song, great melody. High Moon in Red - This one makes me want to not only sing along. Purling Nature and the Flute is the song that really did it for me.
